In her spare time (which Donna works hard to create), she volunteers for the Swiftsure International Yacht Race, held annually in Victoria, where she applies her skills and abilities as a member of the Publicity & Promotion Committee, and as the creator and head of the News Update Team. She was drawn to this event through her newly found love of sailing, particularly with her newly found love, and discovering the inlets, islands, and anchorages of British Columbia.
Donna's newest quest combines fitness, camaraderie, fun, and learning about a variety of other cultures. She has enthusiastically embraced the art of belly dance, as a member the Women of Widad --a new dance troupe named in celebration of love and friendship. The troupe's inaugural performance took place at Victoria's Folk Fest 2005, with many more to follow. Belly dance, as taught by Sidona, meshes with Donna's background in sexuality education, which has, at its roots, self-esteem, self-respect, positive body image, and open creative expression.
